Migration is one of the most significant global issues.
192 million people are living outside their place of birth which is about 3% of the world's population. 1 out of 35
people in the world is a migrant. Half of these people are women.
The mass media partially portray female migration and they can influence with their opinion the policy development.
Mass Media play an important role through the whole communication process acting on political debates and awareness and high lightening the involvement of Civil Society Organizations within policy-making.
Media could get updated, synthesized and usable information and data resulting from research projects. They could integrate information about gender and migration and give visibility to research activities both at European and national level.
Media could be better involved in scientific and political debates taking place between researchers, policy-makers and civil society organizations. They could bring these results up to the public arena stimulating thus greater reflection about these issues.
